Your church, and every faith community in Canada, is under threat right now.

Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government is moving to remove “advancement of religion” as a charitable purpose. That means churches, synagogues, mosques, and other faith-based charities are losing their charitable status.

Parishes that serve the poor are already at risk of being defunded. Food banks, homeless shelters, refugee programs, pro-life centres, and countless ministries rooted in faith are on the line.

More than 30,000 charities, nearly half of Canada’s entire sector, stand in danger today.

And this is happening at the worst possible time. Canadian giving is at a 20-year low. If donations fall further, thousands of ministries are closing their doors just when people need them most.

You and I know countless religious charities answer the call to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and care for the vulnerable. But now Ottawa is trying to silence that witness.

If Ottawa succeeds, it does not just erase religion from public life. It erases the charitable works of mercy that millions rely on every single day.
