A former mayor and Baptist pastor from a town in the Texas panhandle was arrested Feb. 7 on charges of attempting to produce child-sex-abuse material, according to local media.
KFDA-TV Ch. 10 reported that William “Billy” Robbins, 39, was booked into the Potter County Detention Center in Amarillo last Saturday and charged with “solicitation of possession to promote child pornography.”
According to the report, Robbins is accused of trying to tell a girl last May to take inappropriate photos and videos of herself.
His bond was set at $30,000, under the condition of having no contact with the minor or with anyone else under the age of 17.
Robbins’ LinkedIn page states that he was the senior pastor of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Amarillo from May 2024 to June 2025. The church is a Southern Baptist congregation.

He said Robbins took a one-month leave of absence before resigning June 22 for personal reasons.
“I would ask that everybody pray for him and his whole family and for everybody that will be making judgments here,” Grigsby said.
Robbins was also mayor of Fritch, a city about 40 miles north of Amarillo, beginning in 2022. Mayoral terms in Fritch are two years. He previously served as an alderman for the city for four years.
KFDA stated that the charge is a third-degree felony offense, which can result in a sentence of between 2 and 10 years in prison.
Robbins entered a plea of not guilty.
