A former kindergarten teacher at an Indianapolis Christian school who texted “I love my girl” to the 17-year-old female student she seduced will spend no more time in jail.

Torrie Lemon, 24, pleaded guilty May 14 in Hamilton County court to one count of felony child seduction by a childcare worker, court records show. She received a four-year sentence for the level 5 felony but will serve only 40 days in custody, followed by 1,420 days of probation.

Because Lemon spent 30 days in jail from April 16 to May 14 and earned 10 days of good-time credit, she will not serve any additional time behind bars.

Lemon also faces two separate child seduction charges in neighboring Marion County, which could lead to a prison sentence there. A change-of-plea hearing in that case is scheduled for May 22.

Colonial Christian School

The 24-year-old was a kindergarten teacher at Colonial Christian School on Indianapolis’ north side. The school describes itself as “Bible-centered” and “culturally conservative” and requires all staff, students and their families agree to Colonial Hills Baptist Church’s statement of faith. The church did not respond to a request for comment from The Roys Report (TRR).

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police were first contacted on April 10, 2025 by a Colonial Christian employee, according to WXIN-TV 59, a Fox affiliate. The employee said he had become aware of a sexual relationship between Lemon and a student, according to media reports.

Friend found text messages

The allegations surfaced during a school trip to South Carolina, where Lemon served as a chaperone. A friend of the student borrowed her phone and found sexual text messages between Lemon and the girl. Some discussed “laying in bed” and “climaxing.” One reportedly said, “I love you more than I can describe. … Thank you for an amazing night and morning.”

The friend told a school employee, reports indicated.

South Carolina police spoke with Lemon, who immediately admitted to the allegations, according to court documents cited in media reports.

I was having an inappropriate relationship with a student from our school,” Lemon told investigators, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Lemon told officers the relationship started as a friendship before turning physical. She said it escalated from hugs and kisses to sexual contact with the 17-year-old student, WXIN-TV reported.

The victim told detectives she began spending time with Lemon in January 2025, according to an affidavit obtained by People. She said they initially intended only to have a friendship.

The victim said they knew the relationship was wrong because it violated their Christian beliefs and was also illegal. She said she and Lemon first kissed during a school trip to Wabash, Indiana, according to People.

The sexual encounters grew more frequent, with the victim regularly visiting Lemon’s apartment on Colonial Christian School grounds. Other messages discussed sexual activity, according to the affidavit cited by People.

The victim’s mother told police she did not know the extent of the relationship, People reported. She said the friendship seemed to progress quickly, with Lemon bringing the girl flowers and gifts.

Family worried about teacher’s career

The victim’s father told police he knew Lemon and his daughter had kissed and cuddled, the New York Post reported. He said he did not report Lemon because he feared jeopardizing her career.

Colonial Christian School said in a statement obtained by People that after staff learned of the misconduct, the school placed Lemon on leave. The school said it contacted the Indiana Department of Child Services and Indianapolis police.

Lemon was fired in June 2025.

Police filed probable cause affidavit on June 12. Lemon was charged in Hamilton Superior Court two weeks later.

She was charged with two additional counts of child seduction in Marion County on Nov. 5, 2025. She was booked into the Marion County Jail on Nov. 9 and released the same day after posting a $15,000 bond, court records show.

Lemon faces a maximum possible sentence of 12 years.
