THE NEW APOSTOLIC REFORMATION MOVEMENT
If you’re unfamiliar with the New Apostolic Reformation  (NAR), you’re not alone. This lack of awareness has allowed unorthodox doctrines associated with the NAR to infiltrate many individual Christians and churches, often without their knowledge. Few realize the movement’s historical background or its endorsement of certain New Age spiritual practices. This rapidly growing, extensive network operates largely behind the scenes within the visible Christian church, drawing many well-meaning believers toward a path of deception, offering “another gospel” that the Apostle Paul warned about in Galatians 1:8, which stands in opposition to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

However, a full understanding of the NAR’s complex structure and beliefs cannot be gained from reading just a few articles or summaries. Many evangelical churches and organizations have issued well-documented warnings, but developing a clear understanding requires a significant time investment. Just as knowing the true message of God’s Word takes devotion to reading and prayer, grasping the implications of this movement requires commitment. Sadly, many sincere Christians neglect this effort, and in doing so, open the door for errors to be accepted as God’s truth.

To truly grasp the goals and message of the New Apostolic Reformation, one must delve into its history and invest time in studying its doctrines, beliefs, and practices. This approach enables a personal examination of whether the NAR’s teachings align with the truth of Holy Scripture.

The words of Luke in Acts 17:11 are particularly relevant: “Now these people were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.” (Emphasis added.)

In his letter to Timothy, the Apostle Paul underscores that the Holy Scriptures are essential for discerning God’s will and guidance. In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, he writes, “All Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man or woman of God may be fully capable, equipped for every good work” (emphasis added). Indeed, God’s Word serves as the ultimate benchmark by which we are to judge, compare, and discern what aligns with His will and what does not.

The logic here is straightforward: if you enter a forest searching for a specific edible mushroom, you must be thoroughly familiar with its appearance, smell, and texture to distinguish it from similar-looking mushrooms. Without this knowledge, you risk confusing it with a look-alike that may not be edible and could even be poisonous. In the same way, if you lack a clear reference point or benchmark for distinguishing truth from error, you are far more likely to accept error as truth.

Many people have not invested the time to study God’s Word deeply, nor have they familiarized themselves with orthodox evangelical doctrines and practices that have been widely accepted through the ages. Lacking an understanding of the biblical reasons behind these traditions, or of the history and teachings of the New Apostolic Reformation, they may unknowingly accept its unorthodox doctrines at face value without critical discernment.

For followers of Jesus, practicing biblical discernment is essential, not optional. Scripture repeatedly instructs us to study God’s Word so we can “rightly divide the Word of truth” and handle it with confidence, as emphasized in Timothy 2:15.

In my view, and in the learned opinions of many individuals and organizations cited in the following links, the doctrines, practices, and teachings of the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) movement are neither new, apostolic, nor reformative according to God’s Holy Word.

There is a clear and present danger in replacing God’s Holy Word, our ultimate standard of what is right and wrong, with the seductive allure of ‘experiences’ introduced through ‘experimental’ encounters and so-called ‘prophetic’ revelations from those claiming to speak on God’s behalf. When our experiences or prophetic messages contradict the truths of God’s Word, they should be recognized and rejected as coming from an alternative source, not from God. God’s nature is unchanging, and His Word remains constant.

Jesus cautioned that as the ‘end of the age’ draws near, false christs and false prophets will arise, deceiving many (Matthew 24:4-8). Similarly, the Apostle Paul warned of a ‘strong delusion’ in the end times (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12). Could it be that this delusion includes the infiltration and spread of the New Apostolic Reformation within the visible Christian Church? Many, myself included, sincerely believe this is possible. My hope and prayer are that the following information and select resources offer you the insight needed to discern whether this movement, its teachings, and practices align with God’s Word.

HUMAN NATURE DEFICIENCY
A deficiency in human nature, the tendency to exalt one’s own perception, will, or experience above humble submission to God’s revealed truth, finds fertile ground within the NAR. The movement’s appeal often lies in its promise of spiritual power, prophetic identity, and dominion authority, all of which cater subtly (and sometimes overtly) to the human desire for recognition, influence, and divine affirmation apart from the cross-shaped path of obedience and servanthood. Rather than dying to self and discerning the will of the Father through Christ, adherents are often encouraged to “declare” or “manifest” outcomes according to their own faith or authority, creating a theological framework that, though cloaked in spiritual language, aligns dangerously with the very lawlessness Jesus warned of—religious acts performed in His name, yet disconnected from true relationship and obedience. A RECENT REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE OF WHY BIBLICAL DISCERNMENT MATTERS
In January 2026, Christian teacher Mike Winger released an extensive video presentation examining serious concerns surrounding the prophetic ministry of Shawn Bolz and the broader leadership culture connected to Bethel Church and associated networks.
